Rainy afternoon with a toddler

My 2 year old and I spend a couple of hours doing things together every afternoon before her daddy comes home. Sometimes we:

  • go shopping for food
  • go on playdates
  • make jigsaws
  • paint
  • make dinner
  • walk
  • do some other toddler friendly jobs, (like lately pick blackberries)

These activities generally take us up to about 6.30pm, when she races out to greet D-A-D-D-Y!!!

But today, daddy wasn’t going to be home till 9. That’s a lot of time to fill with a 2 year old. It’s raining outside. What to do? Make cookies, that’s what. Thanks to Kieran at Ice Cream Ireland, we now have a recipe for the most perfect chocolate chip cookies in the world. Choc Chip Cookies

Great fun for a little one who’s only too happy to beat the butter and sugar, add tiny handfuls of flour to the mix and have her teddy press the “pulse” button on the blender when required. They take just 9 minutes to cook, so she didn’t even have time to get bored waiting for them to be done.

She was so thrilled with the result that she had to phone daddy to tell him “We made cookies”. He was so thrilled, he came home an hour early! Me? My waist floweth over.
